Go-karts, bees, woods, rock sanctuaries and art cities: from Aracoeli 20 the Murgia is all within reach. That's why it's worth staying a few extra days.
Just a short hop from Aracoeli 20 is one of the most popular spots in the Bari area: the Murgia go-kart track, a floodlit circuit surrounded by greenery. Perfect for a different evening with friends, a birthday party or a family challenge — from beginners to motor enthusiasts. The current circuit is 700 metres, with an extension under way.
A unique experience for all ages: discovering the world of bees up close with those who live it every day. Cassano has a long beekeeping tradition — the educational farm Alveare da Favola takes part in the Alta Murgia National Park's "Open Apiaries" initiative, with visits, teaching hives, honey tastings and workshops. A perfect activity for families with children and lovers of authentic nature.
The great green lung of the Murgia: over a thousand hectares of equipped pine forest, planted in 1928 to reforest the plateau. It's the ideal place for a refreshing walk, a family picnic or a mountain-bike ride. Stage 2 of the Via Peuceta — the one that ends right in Cassano — crosses these woods, among oaks, fragno oaks and pines.
A short distance from the old town stands the Sanctuary-Convent of Santa Maria degli Angeli, an evocative convent set among caves and run by the Augustinian Fathers. Tradition tells of Marian apparitions and a sacred image frescoed on the rock. Entry is free: a place of peace and beauty, rich in artworks, steps from Aracoeli 20.
The UNESCO Sassi, the rock churches and the Murgia Materana Park. One of the oldest cities in the world.
The famous DOP bread, the cathedral built by Frederick II and the Man of Altamura. Capital of the Murgia.
The film-set aqueduct bridge, the ravines and the rock dwellings carved into the stone.
Old Bari, the Basilica of San Nicola, the seafront and the international airport just 27 km away.
The cliffs over the Adriatic, the coves and the white town facing the sea. An unmissable seaside trip.
Tastings of Primitivo and Murgia wines, extra-virgin olive oil and local produce at the area's masserie.
